New ReviewerI was a lifetime member for many, many years (my membership number starts with (200xxxxx). I have periodically wondered what happened, when I saw the spoon rest (which I recently donated to Goodwill) and hotplate (which is currently in the donation pile). I just came across my member number and decided to look up the status of my membership, as I realized I hadn't received any magazines in ages.
THIS type of thing, where a company signs you up as a lifetime member and then just slurks aways into the darkness with no notification should be illegal. The least they could have done was do the courtesy of sending their lifetime members a letter expressing their profound regret but they could no longer sustain business and were going bankrupt. At least that would be understandable.
I absolutely did not receive my money's worth from my lifetime membership. Sure, I received the initial pots and pans, and the magnets and notepads and potholders and the like. Sure, I received the magazines (which were mostly useless if you are a vegetarian).
I learned a lesson. Don't become a lifetime member in anything.
